The gateway to East Africa, Nairobi is a fantastic starting point for your Kenyan adventure

Most visitors to Kenya arrive into Nairobi and immediately head to the national parks or the coastline. As one of East Africa’s largest cities, Nairobi’s bustling cosmopolitan chaos can be slightly overwhelming for some travellers.

However we recommend sticking around for a day or two, taking the opportunity to visit the city’s top attractions and explore Nairobi’s colourful culture and vibrant cuisine.

Our luxury Kenya holidays include a ‘meet and assist’ service at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (NBO), and you’ll be welcomed by a Wayfairer representative as soon as you disembark from your international flight.

Our Wayfairer representative will then escort you as you pass through immigration, customs and baggage collection, and they’ll remain with you until you meet your driver in the arrivals area. Your driver will then transfer you to your chosen Nairobi accommodation, which will serve as a luxurious haven in the heart of the city.

During your stay in Nairobi, we will arrange for you to have a private car and driver at your disposal, taking you safely to any attractions you wish to visit in the daytime, and any of the city’s fantastic restaurants in the evenings.

Nairobi’s top attractions include the Nairobi National Park, a wide expanse of grassy plains, located just a short drive out of Nairobi’s centre. Here, you’ll get a taste of Kenya’s incredible wildlife, with lions, cheetahs, leopards, giraffes, buffaloes, hyenas, over 400 species of birdlife, and even the endangered black rhino. Enjoy a picnic or go hiking along the trails, with Nairobi’s city skyscrapers rising in the background.

For more wildlife experiences, visit the Giraffe Centre, a conservation centre working to protect the endangered Rothschild Giraffe, found only in East Africa. The conservation centre is the only sanctuary in the world within a capital city that allows you to get up close and personal with the endangered giraffe, making for a truly special experience.

Visit the Karen Blixen Museum, the former home of the Danish author of ‘Out of Africa’. Wander through the fantastic exhibition of furniture and photography and learn the fascinating story of Karen Blixen.

Whether you linger in Nairobi at the beginning or end of your luxury Kenya holiday, we’ll ensure you see the lively sites in style and experience Nairobi’s city charms.

During the cooler, dry months from July to early October the average day temperatures range between 21-25°C and drop to around 11°C at night.

Nairobi experiences two rainy seasons - the long rainy season lasts from mid-March to May, whilst the short rainy season is from late October to December. Nairobi can be visited throughout the year – even during the rainy season.
